In this programme, you will study present-day media forms and explore how they are related to one another, while at the same time investigating the roots of this relatively new field.
This one-year master's programme has four specialisations, each of which considers the different forms of media, and how they interrelate: Comparative Literature and Literary Theory; Book and Digital Media Studies; Film and Photographic Studies; Journalism and New Media. You will study the media from a broad perspective, which will give you ample opportunity to create cross-connections between the different specialisations.

Specialities:
Book and Digital Media Studies:
This programme covers the entire history and present practice of textual transmission from manuscript to the internet.
Comparative Literature and Literary Theory:
This specialisation focuses on the study of literature from a comparative and theoretical perspective, covering a wide range of languages and cultures from around the world.
Film and Photographic Studies:
The specialisation covers the history and theory of film and photography within the broad context of visual and other media.
Journalistiek en Nieuwe Media:
This specialisation offers students the opportunity to develop a professional journalistic writing style, while acquiring a solid academic grounding. The programme is taught in Dutch.
