This system introduces students to the study of the normal operation of the body and to the pathological processes that occur in the diseased state. The very initial three years targets the core aspects of biomedical sciences. The research of anatomy, physiology and biochemistry contributes to more thorough examination of immunology, clinical biochemistry, pathobiology, haematology, microbiology and histology/cytology. The class covers the heart professional essentials of laboratory management and quality assurance.

Australian Institute of Medical Scientists

  • Year 12 or equivalent
  • English (Unit 3/4( C), chemistry (Units 3/4,C), mathematical methods (Units 3/4,C). Recommended: biology, health, physical education or physics (Units 3/4,C). Students must also meet the prerequisites for clinical placement: immunisation
  • Current Queensland First Aid and CPR certificates
  • Suitability to Work with Children Card (Blue Card)
  • Australian Federal Police test.
