This program prepares students to become considered a mental health nurse. Students will study advanced level group and individual counselling, mental health treatment, contemporary nursing issues and research. RMIT Nursing and Midwifery is one of the oldest providers of nursing education in Australia.
Emotional caregivers are eligible to join a specialist organisation such as the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses and are able to mention that this eligibility included in their application for credentialing.
- A Bachelor of Nursing degree, or equivalent, or perhaps a bachelor degree in psychiatric/mental health nursing from an approved higher education institution. (when it comes to physicians who have senior expertise in emotional health a Diploma could be considered equivalent.) Current enrollment or be eligible for enrollment as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia 840 hours of supervised clinical training currently completed in the field of mental health nursing
- Or currently completing this as part of a grad year schedule at mental health nursing or supervised training through the candidature
