Welcome to the Midwifery Programme at the University of Pavia

The Midwifery Programme at the University of Pavia is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a successful midwife. Our programme is based on the latest research and evidence-based practice, and is designed to meet the needs of both the student and the midwifery profession.

The programme consists of a combination of theoretical and practical courses, including anatomy and physiology, obstetrics, neonatology, and midwifery practice. Students will also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a variety of clinical settings, including hospitals, birth centers, and home births.

The programme also provides students with the opportunity to gain experience in research and teaching, as well as the opportunity to participate in international exchange programmes. Upon completion of the programme, students will be eligible to take the Italian Midwifery Board Examination and become a certified midwife.

Requirements for Midwifery Programme at University of Pavia

Academic Requirements

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Applicants must also demonstrate proficiency in English, as all courses are taught in English.

Admission Requirements

In addition to the academic requirements, applicants must submit a completed application form, a personal statement, two letters of recommendation, and official transcripts. Applicants must also pass an interview with the admissions committee.

Additional Requirements

Applicants must also have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel to clinical sites for hands-on experience. Applicants must also be able to pass a background check and drug test.

The programme provides students with the opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of the midwifery profession, including the principles of midwifery practice, the legal and ethical aspects of midwifery, and the management of labour and delivery. Students will also gain an understanding of the physiological and psychological aspects of pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care.

The programme also provides students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a variety of clinical settings, including hospitals, birth centres, and community settings. This experience will enable students to develop the skills necessary to provide quality care to women and their families.
