The Bachelor's degree program in Modern China, Arts at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg offers students a comprehensive exploration of China's rich cultural, historical, and artistic heritage. This interdisciplinary program combines the study of contemporary Chinese society with an in-depth analysis of its artistic expressions, fostering a nuanced understanding of China's rapid development and its global influence. Throughout the course, students will engage with key topics such as Chinese history, philosophy, literature, visual arts, and performing arts, gaining valuable insights into how these elements shape modern Chinese identity. The program emphasizes language proficiency, encouraging students to develop Mandarin skills alongside their academic studies, which enhances cross-cultural communication and research capabilities. Students participate in lectures, seminars, and practical projects that promote critical thinking, analytical skills, and intercultural competence. Opportunities for field trips, internships, and study exchanges in China are integral parts of the curriculum, providing direct exposure to Chinese cultural institutions and contemporary urban environments. Faculty members are experienced experts in Asian studies, ensuring students benefit from high-quality instruction and mentorship. Graduates will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary for careers in international relations, cultural diplomacy, academia, media, and consultancy related to China. This program prepares students not only to understand modern China’s complex societal landscape but also to contribute thoughtfully to ongoing intercultural dialogues and global understanding.
