The Master of Science in Information Systems and Operations Management (ISOM) Program produces talented specialists that can analyze this information and translate it into creative solutions. Experts with these skills are in high demand as management executives are placing increased importance on information systems and supply chain principles.

Student Organization

The student chapter of the Association for Information Systems (AIS) is the official organization of the ISOM Graduate Program at UF. AIS is a nationally recognized organization with local parent chapters throughout the U.S.

Multiple Areas of Study

Adapting to industry changes and providing a diverse experience, our program offers three tracks - Information Technology, Supply Chain Management, and, our newest offering, Business Intelligence & Analytics.

Non-business Backgrounds Welcome

Students from a variety of backgrounds—not only business and engineering—can successfully complete this program. Most non-business students only need one additional semester of coursework to complete the program.

Admission Criteria

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites to the program. However, students without a business background may need additional course work to meet prerequisites for some of the required courses.

Degree

All applicants must have a previous bachelor's degree, master's degree or doctoral degree from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent as determined by the UF Office of Admission's evaluation of official transcripts.

Grade Point Average

US applicants, or applicants who graduated from an accredited US college or university, must have an upper division undergraduate grade point average of 3.00 or higher. In the case of non-US applicants, the UF Office of Admission will determine degree equivalency.

GMAT/GRE Score

The ISOM Department requires that applicants take all portions of the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). You may Email Chandra Hardy for the latest minimal GMAT/GRE score requirements. Please visit MBA.comor GRE.org for test preparation materials, to register for one of the tests or to forward your official score to UF using the institution code of 5812. Since it can take up to eight weeks for the Admissions Office to process your test score, it is important to allow for this delay by taking the exam well in advance of the application deadline.

Academic Integrity

For any academic class activity, students must follow the University of Florida Student Honor Code. Any violation of the honor code will automatically result in a grade of E (Fail) for this course and further sanctions that may include a suspension or expulsion from the University through the Dean of Students Office. All incidents will be reported to Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution at the University of Florida.

The ISOM Department does not provide funding to MS students. Therefore, students should expect to cover their tuition, fees and housing for the duration of the time required to complete their degree. If funds are made available to assist students, they will be notified of process to apply for the funding. Internship opportunities

There are two types of internship opportunities available to students: off-campus corporate internships and on-campus internships (usually unpaid).

A popular on-campus internship is offered through UF IT’s Enterprise Systems, the department that creates, maintains, and supports technologies and information systems for nearly all of the university’s large-scale business and academic processes, such as payroll, admissions, purchasing, enterprise reporting, financial aid, course registration, enterprise reporting, payable time entry, grants, etc. Enterprise Systems collaborates with the MS-ISOM program in offering internship opportunities to students for the Fall, Spring, or Summer C semesters. MSDN Academic Alliance Software Center

All students registered in ISOM courses will automatically be enrolled in the MSDN Academic Alliance program that allows students to purchase software at significant discounts off standard retail prices. To access the software, you will need to sign in with the GatorLink email address and MSDN password that was emailed to you approximately two days before class began. If you did not receive the email, check your junk mailbox. If you deleted the email, click on "Start Shopping and "Forgot your password." Then enter your GatorLink email address and a new MSDN password will be sent to your GatorLink email address.
