The Nurse Midwifery Program is based at the Rutgers Health Sciences Campus in Newark, NJ. Graduates are eligible to take the certification examination offered by the American Midwifery Certification Board.
Role and Qualifications: The Advanced Practice Nurse in Midwifery has a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree and advanced preparation in the assessment and management of the changing health patterns in women across the life span.
The Nurse Midwife provides primary and reproductive care to women across the lifespan from adolescence to senescence including childbearing in diverse practice and health care delivery settings. The Nurse Midwife emphasizes a wellness paradigm and uses a scientific, evidenced-based rationale for practice.
