The four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc.N.) degree prepares students for careers as registered nurses. The B.Sc.N. program promotes the development of nursing as a caring, client-centred, scientifically-based profession. With an emphasis on problem-based, small group, self-directed learning, the program provides a general baccalaureate education in nursing for the preparation of professional nurses who will practice in a variety of health care settings. Central to the programпПХs mission is the preparation of nurses who will work to enhance the quality of health of individuals, families, communities, and society. In fulfilling its mission, the B.Sc.N. program promotes skills in its graduates to prepare them for lifelong, self-directed learning, critical thinking, advocacy, and collective action. Students experience clinical placements in the health care and community agencies of Hamilton, Halton, Brantford, Niagara and surrounding areas.Graduates may have careers in a variety of positions and settings. They include staff nurses in hospitals, nursing homes, visiting nursing agencies, and public health department; care managers for community care access centres; entrepreneurs owning and managing a health care or nursing care business; researchers in nursing care, nurse education, and health care; and educators of individuals, families, communities, and nursing students.
