This system enables students to undertake a course which balances the development of clinical skills with theoretical analysis. Foundation studies build students' comprehension in key regions of physiology, anatomy, and pathophysiology, and also will introduce students into professional nursing practice along with contemporary healthcare service. Students will also develop an understanding of pharmacology with an emphasis on quality use of drugs. Throughout the course students undertake periods of clinical practice to prepare them for transition into the role of a registered nurse. Studies have been undertaken within the University and in a selection of hospitals and public centers.
This course has professional Certification from the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council. Candidates are eligible to apply for enrolled nurse standing together with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of both Australia and registration of the Australian College of Nursing
- Year 12 or equivalent
- Assumed knowledge: English, or Literature, or English and Literature, or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 & 4, C).
