The Pre-Law program at Kansas State University is designed to prepare students for admission to law school and to develop the skills needed for a successful legal career. This comprehensive program offers students a solid foundation in critical thinking, analytical reasoning, research, and effective communication—skills essential for law school and the legal profession. While there is no specific major designated as "Pre-Law," students interested in pursuing a legal career can major in a variety of disciplines such as Political Science, Sociology, History, English, or other relevant fields, complemented by pre-law coursework and activities. The university encourages students to engage in internships, moot court competitions, and legal research to gain practical experience and insight into the legal system. Academic advising tailored for pre-law students helps them select appropriate courses and extracurricular activities to strengthen their law school applications. The program emphasizes the importance of developing a strong academic record, cultivating a broad liberal arts education, and gaining leadership and community service experience. Kansas State University also provides resources such as LSAT preparation assistance, law school application guidance, and networking opportunities with alumni and legal professionals. By participating in the Pre-Law program, students will be well-equipped to succeed in law school and to pursue careers in various legal fields including public service, corporate law, criminal law, and more. The program’s goal is to foster a commitment to justice, critical inquiry, and ethical practice, ensuring students are prepared not only academically but also personally for the challenges of law school and the legal profession.
