Those taking the four year course, which includes the Professional Enhancement Year, have the opportunity to apply for longer placements lasting for varying periods of time that may be in the UK or overseas.

Through exchange and commercial partners, we have placed and supported students in international design internships. For example, students who have specialised in the toy industry have obtained design experience in Hong Kong and China. The department has a wide network of former students who are active in expanding our international design associations.

GLOBAL LEADERS PROGRAMME

To prepare students for the challenges of the global employment market and to strengthen and develop their broader personal and professional skills Coventry University has developed a unique Global Leaders Programme.

The objectives of the programme, in which postgraduate and eligible undergraduate students can participate, is to provide practical career workshops and enable participants to experience different business cultures

Course Content

This course offers the options of a three year BA (Hons) degree or four year MDes or BA (Hons) degree that include the third year `Professional Enhancement´.
On the first year of the course you will learn 2D and 3D techniques for generating, developing and communicating innovative product design ideas using manual and digital media supported by historical, environmental and technological contextual studies.

During the second year you will focus on your own particular strengths and interests. Learning will involve branding and design for different market places, and you will learn how to evaluate your work in relation to identified objectives.

The final year of the three year BA (Hons) degree involves your entering a national competition, followed by your major project. Students are expected to exhibit in our prestigious Degree Show.

Requirements

5 GCSEs at grade A*-C including English Language and Mathematics, or specified equivalents.

A-Levels: CCC to include at least one Art or Design subject

BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma: MMM in an Art and Design subject

The Access Diploma: 60 credits to include 45 credits at level 3. Access applicants can meet the GCSE requirements through their current studies and do not need to have these qualifications separately.

International Baccalaureate: 27 points in the IB Diploma to include Art and Design at Higher level.

English as a Foreign Language: IELTS 6.0.

Applicants will be required to attend an interview and portfolio review.

Work Experience
