Accounting is a critical component of any company or institution. Accounting as a profession has seen a major shift in recent decades, from a strictly financial focus of economic accountability to a more complex role within business organisations and management. The accounting profession has also expanded to include areas such as information systems, insolvency and forensic investigations.
Change to a career in accounting
If you want to become an accountant and already have a bachelor or 8-unit non-accounting master's degree , the Master of Professional Accounting will get you there. Entry requirements
- An approved degree at no less than bachelor or 8-unit masters level in a non-accounting field from a recognised university or tertiary institution1
- Applicants with overseas academic qualifications in accounting should write to either of the following professional bodies for an assessment of their qualifications, prior to applying for enrolment in the program: CPA Australia or The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
- Admission to the program will not be granted to persons who are members of, or eligible for, membership of CPA Australia or the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
English Language Requirements
Domestic and international students from a non-English speaking background are required to satisfy English Language requirements. This program requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.
If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.
