This degree has the distinction of being an entirely Work-based Learning (WBL) course, which is customised to the individual needs of the students in their respective workplaces.

The aim of the course is to provide analytical, technological and management guidance to IT specialists, already working within the industry on a professional level. There is particular emphasis on those areas which are currently considered essential for a senior career in the profession.

Students will develop a set of skills enabling them to apply an analytical approach to IT in the context of real life applications.

The knowledge and skills gained from this course should better prepare and place graduates in a highly and increasingly competitive employment market. Specifically the course is designed to enable graduates to demonstrate strong commitment and evidence of applying their work-related study directly and effectively to their work, so that they are better positioned for an enhanced career progression.

This MSc programme is an entirely Work-based Learning (WBL) course, which is customised to the individual needs of the students in their workplace.

Two of the modules included in the study programme are intended to strengthen skills such as professionalism in dealing with technology and also personal and professional development.

IT consultancy skills and project management awareness are also included in these modules.

The dissertation, which finishes the course of study, summarises and integrates the knowledge and skills gained during the study on a problem directly related to students work, and therefore it allows them to show to a fuller extent a new level of competence and confidence in their workplace.

Assessment
The assessment will be done through a variety of methods - portfolios, individual reports and presentations, and final dissertation. Recognition of prior experience will be based on the portfolio matched to the learning outcomes according to the standard university procedures. Support and guidance will be provided both online and face-to-face.

The course is open to students with an undergraduate degree in Sciences, Engineering and Arts related to the use of technical products, systems or services. It is normally assumed that the students are professionally employed, self-employed or work as freelance consultants and will continue working in the same area during the duration of their study.
