The Master of Professional Psychology is a 1 year course intended to fulfill the needs of the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) and the Australian physician Regulation Agency (AHPRA) to get a generalist fifth year in psychology. The course prepares selected psychology graduates in advanced psychotherapeutic skills required for standard registration as a psychologist. It develops your professional ability to employ the theoreticalanalysis, research, assessment and healing skills required with psychology. Following graduation, you will be eligible to tackle 1 year of supervised generalist clinic, then you'll progress to full registration as a psychologist. You may build up expertise in applying counseling theories and techniques by your understanding of a range of evidence-based psychotherapies. You may see core knowledge and theoretical notions underpinning the therapeutic procedure and expand your practical knowledge in counseling interventions as you develop healing relationships using a range of client classes. You may acquire the skills to administer, score, interpret and report to an extensive assortment of psychological tests and assessments. You may participate together with the Australian Psychological Society (APS) code of ethics and research ethical dilemmas to encourage your ethical practice in job research, educational or professional roles in different workplaces. You're going to be exposed to a range of methods related to promotion of health, symptom loss and behavioural shift. In addition, you will learn how to employ culturally sensitive interventions that have been demonstrated to facilitate positive effects in a number of contexts. You will learn how to utilise research in guiding your selection of therapeutic interventions and how to evaluate the outcomes of one's intervention in clinic. You may gain professional experience through 300 hours of supervised professional experience activities through a mix of activities in the Faculty's on site clinic and off-campus clinical placement activities. At the completion of the course, graduates will have acquired the necessary skills to prepare for a final year of supervised training in the area for general enrollment under the'5+1 internship model' for enrollment. Graduates of this application arrange a Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) approved 1-year internship in preferences of their choice.

A fourth year of psychology study from any course certified by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC), which may be a Graduate Diploma or Bachelor's honours level, with at least a high credit average in fifth year psychology. These qualifications will need to have been completed over the last 10 years. Applicants with international qualifications need to have their qualifications assessed by the Australian Psychological Society (APS). Additionally, applicants must supply evidence of proven suitability for work as a professional psychologist depending on completion of a supplementary form and decent customer reports (one academic and 2 practitioner ), relevant voluntary or paid work experience, and a scheduled appointment.
