Assessing psychology provides students with the expertise and skills to comprehend and explain human behaviour and connections. The Bachelor of Psychological Sciences provides meticulous study in developmental psychology, cognition, social psychology, personality, design and measurement, emotional measurement and abnormal psychology. Students complete a number of research projects and build up skills in project management, research design and report writing. The three-year undergraduate major in psychology is professionally licensed by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council. Graduates of this degree are entitled to apply for the Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) - Exam Entry.

The Psychology major at Swinburne incorporates the Psychology sequence accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC).

  • Year 12 or equivalent
  • VCE prerequisites: Units 3 and 4: a minimum study score of 25 in English (or equivalent) or even 30 in English (EAL). Added performance criteria and prerequisite requirements may also apply. English language requirements - satisfactory conclusion of one of the following: Swinburne's English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 high level) with overall 70%, all of skills 65%
  • Minimum IELTS overall band of 6.5 (Academic Module) with no single band below 6.0
  • TOEFL iBT (internet-based) minimum score of 79 with a reading band at least 18 and writing band at least 20
  • Pearson (PTE) minimum score of 5-8 (no real skills less than 50)
  • Any other equivalent assessment of English language proficiency.
