Psychology

StudyQA ranking:7036 Duration:4 years

Psychology encompasses all aspects of human behaviour, using analyzed theoretical frameworks to examine, explain and predict what we perform as individuals and in groups. The four-year general applied psychology curriculum emphasises the application of knowledge about problems arising from professional training, and graduates are equipped to move right into the workforce as provisionally registered psychologists. Additionally, it offers an understanding of the theoretical frame within which various techniques and processes are developed. Experimental design related to applied research is an equally important part of the program. As the primary focus is about psychology, the course also provides a wide appreciation of individual behaviour and experience from incorporating studies in sciences. High achieving students could be selected to take part within the Honours stream in the fourth year of the program. As a result of accreditation requirements, students not reaching a credit average in their second and third degree core psychology units will likely be required to leave the course with the Bachelor of Science (Psychology) award.

This Program is Licensed by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council. Graduates of this course are entitled to apply for associate membership of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). To be registered as a Psychologist, pupils are required to undertake a further two decades of licensed psychology study or Behavior board approved internship.
