Psychology is the scientific study of human behaviour, thought, and feeling. It is both a scientific discipline and a profession. A general distinction can be made between basic research which builds psychologyпПХs base of knowledge and applied research which tackles practical problems. Psychology at SFU is organized around five areas: Cognitive & Biological; Developmental; Law & Forensic; Social; and Theory & Methods. Psychology is for students who are curious about why people behave, think and feel as they do, and it is for students who want to explore these questions from an empirical (scientific) perspective.
