This flexible parttime class introduces students to key issues in social networking, for example societal informatics; government, media and public engagement; philosophies of communication; new technologies and also the near future of the internet environment. Students develop the practical and theoretical skills related to different technological platforms and approaches, and also will graduate able to efficiently negotiate both current and emerging societal networking entities within a private, public or not-for-profit workplace environment. Students will: Evaluate the ramifications of social networking in a range of areas including politics, business, regulation and societal groups; understand that the conceptual theory behind internet environments; and translate their theoretical knowledge into useful and new practical methods of engaging people in a societal, institutional or networking circumstance.

Applicants must have an undergraduate degree or equivalent as approved by the University.
