The "Master en travail social" is an offer proposed by the Haute Ecole spécialisée de Suisse Occidentale (HES-SO) in collaboration with SUPSI-DSAS. The program has four compulsory modules and a choice of four specific out of nine. In addition to the modules, the student must attend an "Atelier de recherche thématique" or a choice of "Stage de recherche.The research stage can be performed at the SUPSI. On completion of training, a final task - the Masters Thesis - is expected.

Skills
During this training, students acquire and develop the conceptual and methodological tools necessary for exercising professional skills, such as:
building a critical perspective on the meaning and problems relating to social action;
placing the role of social work based on national and international comparisons of social policies;
analyzing social problems in view of reciprocal influences among contexts, perspectives of actors implicated, and intervention methods;
knowing and mobilizing the relevant scientific methods for conducting research in the field of social work;
mediating between the political world, the media and social work, and devising proper social communication.
Students may be entitled to receive Cantonal Scholarships, provided they meet certain income conditions and provided they are resident in Ticino. For foreign students, and under certain circumstances, SUPSI may liaise with private institutions offering scholarships.
