The programme aims to provide opportunities for students to take a reflective and interdisciplinary approach to the planning, provision, and management of sport and leisure. The programme also emphasises a life-span approach to understanding the relationship among sport, leisure, and wellbeing and offers students with opportunities for active learning in various settings. The curriculum is designed to facilitate the following objectives:
- to advance students' understanding of the planning and provision of sport and leisure from a life-span perspective, including the provision of inclusive programmes;
- to advance students' skills and knowledge in the management of sport and leisure;
- to enable students to become reflective and critical practitioners who are able to assess and respond to changing needs of a society; and
- to enhance students' competence in reading and carrying out independent research.

Academic Qualification
Applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised university.
Language Proficiency Requirement
Proof of English proficiency is required for all applicants whose first degree is obtained from non-English medium institutions. These applicants must meet the following minimum requirements for English proficiency:
- a score of 537 (paper-based test), with a minimum score of 4.0 for writing section or 74 (internet-based test) with a minimum score of 21 for writing section in TOEFL; or
- an overall band score of 6.0 with a minimum score of 6.0 for writing section and 5.5 for other sections in IELTS; or
- an equivalent qualification.
Others
Priority will be given to applicants who have related majors (e.g. physical education, sport/exercise science, sport/recreation/leisure management) or relevant work experiences.

The Government offers financial assistance in the form of non-means-tested loan to all students. The beneficiaries are expected to repay their loans within a specified period after graduation.
Scholarships are bestowed upon selected recipients including new students on the basis of academic merits and other criteria stipulated by the donors.
