The MSc Sports Nutrition (Top up) aims to provide research experience for prospective students who hold the IOC PG Diploma in Sports Nutrition or similar qualification. In particular the aims are:

* To advance practical experience and develop a critical and reflective approach to research and practice in nutrition
* To enable you to become effective learners and practitioners by developing cross-functional skills

The course team has a wide range of expertise ranging from whole body metabolic research, epidemiology, dietary assessment and clinical research to childhood obesity. These aspects are reflected in the course.

Career opportunities
Graduates will find opportunities in the Sports and health field as well as the fitness industry. Graduates may also use this course as a starting point for a sports nutrition research career.

To qualify for the MSc award you will need to carry out a Research Project and then submit a 10,000-15,000 word dissertation.

It is designed for students to undertake a substantial piece of research in their subject field.

Assessment
Assessment is by a combination of a practical component, a written report and Viva Voce.

Normally an upper second-class Honours degree in a relevant subject. Those with relevant professional qualifications or extensive professional experience will also be considered.Applicants should hold 120 M level credits in a relevant area of Sports Nutrition or the IOC PG Diploma in Sports Nutrition. Applications with other relevant qualifications will be considered on an individual basis Proficiency in the English Language is essential. If English is not your first language, you will require an IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 6 in writing), TOEFL 580, CBT TOEFL 237 or equivalent. English Language Requirements IELTS band: 6 TOEFL paper-based test score : 580 IMPORTANT NOTE: Since April 2014 the ETS tests (including TOEFL and TOEIC) are no longer accepted for Tier 4 visa applications to the United Kingdom. The university might still accept these tests to admit you to the university, but if you require a Tier 4 visa to enter the UK and begin your degree programme, these tests will not be sufficient to obtain your Visa.
