Description
This degree builds on prior study to enable students to graduate with a three-year degree and it can form a pathway into our Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood). Students enter the Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) at the third-year level and complete one year of study. A student's previous studies and work experience make up the first two years of the degree as advanced standing (also known as 'Recognised Prior Learning').
The degree focuses on the birth to five-year-old age group and provides students with additional opportunities to study, learn and reflect on education for young children, including 12 days of Professional Experience.
We know that lots of people who want to study are also working full-time, which is why UNE offers this degree by distance education - giving students the flexibility to balance study with work, family and other commitments.
The Australian Government's Early Childhood agenda includes increasing the number of degree qualified staff in the sector and are offering HECS-HELP debt bonuses to eligible students.
Career Opportunities
The career opportunities for early childhood graduates are increasing every year, especially in regional, rural and remote areas of Australia.
Graduates of this degree can progress into a range of early childhood careers. Completion of the Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) will also assist graduates to progress in their career and enhance their earning power.
