Description
This degree offers an experience of theatre from a range of different points of view-the actor, the director, the playwright, the critic and the audience member. It begins with introductions to the roles of the actor and the writer as creators of theatre events, and then allows students to focus on playwriting, performing, and the informed study of theatre within society, both now and throughout Western history.
There is a special focus on Australian theatre. At the end of their studies, students have the opportunity to focus on directing for the theatre. Both on-campus and distance-education students complete a major in Theatre and Performance, and are encouraged to extend their studies in a wide range of other possible disciplines in the arts and humanities fields.
