This specialisation offers a unique opportunity to study the historical and contemporary forms of Christianity from a global, multi-religious and multidisciplinary perspective.
In this one-year programme, you will generally approach research themes from a regional perspective. The staff include specialists in Christianity in Europe, North America, the Middle East and East Asia (China, India). The Leiden specialisation in Christianity aims to foster an academic attitude in students that is based on a thorough study of many different types of sources (written, oral, visual, etc.). You will analyse these sources by employing a wide variety of approaches inspired by historical, anthropological, linguistic and sociological methodologies.
