Planners can't rely on policy-focused approaches to re-frame contemporary and future cities. In this project-based urban design and planning training program, recognised by the Planning Institute of Australia, you will work on projects based in real settings, addressing the challenges facing planners in the 21stcentury. The Master of Urban Planning and Design course Provides an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach, engaging with the urban preparation interests in the Department of Architecture as well as other research pursuits in Monash University, such as the Cooperative Research Centre for Water Cosmetic Cities, the Monash Sustainability Institute and the Monash Infrastructure Institute. The accumulative project work is undertaken in groups and individually in the studio setting, and includes field visits, workshops, seminars and case study research. You'll use students from the variety of backgrounds and subjects, together with Australian and internationally experienced professors and professionals dedicated to postsecondary research. The training program is open to applicants from backgrounds as diverse as architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, economics and geography. On graduating you'll be equipped to find employment in government departments and agencies, as well as in preparation practices in Australia and across the globe. A Australian undergraduate level (or equivalent) with at least a credit average (60 percent ), a CV, and also a 250-word statement of purpose outlining your area of attention and also the reason you want to finish the course.
