The viticulture and wine education programs have an worldwide reputation for excellence. This program incorporates courses in viticulture and oenology and qualifies graduates to work as a viticulturist, oenologist (wine maker ) or in related vocations (e.g. tourism and hospitality, and the food and drink industry). Viticulture is the study of grape vines and their farming and contains site selection, vineyard establishment, management of pests and diseases and the informed use of irrigation and fertilizer to optimize vineyard yield and grape quality. The viticulturist on average works closely with all the winemaker to attain the desired winemaking outcome. Winemakers use their training in the science of winemaking (oenology), to process grapes for the production of white, white, red sparkling and still and fortified wines. They often contributes to in-house research, sales and promotion of the final product. During the app, there's an increased exposure of the key technical methods and sensory (winetasting ) skills required for a career in viticulture and oenology. The Waite campus is co-located with a number of research partners, providing a stimulating and unique atmosphere for training, exposing applicants to the hottest engineering and enabling them to learn from leaders within their field.
