Water resources engineers design solutions for the management of societyпПХs water and land resources. A growing world population needs the expertise of water resources engineers to evaluate watershed management options, design flood and erosion control systems, water supply and treatment systems, water distribution networks including water security systems, develop policies for the preservation of our water systems, and use geographic information systems for computerized data management. Water resources engineers work globally as designers, planners, managers, and researchers for consulting firms, municipalities, conservation authorities, research institutions, and government agencies. Students choosing the Co-op program will complete their degree in five years.Career opportunities may be found in watershed management and policy making, urban water systems, soil and water conservation, urban and watershed modelling, and water supply security.
