Leo Cussen Institute trading as Leo Cussen Centre for Law was established by an Act of the Victorian Parliament in 1972.

For more than twenty years, the Institute has provided Practical Legal Training to law students entering the legal profession. The Practical Training Course (Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice) is recognised by the legal profession as providing comprehensive and excellent training for law graduates leading to their entry to the legal profession as Australian Attorneys.
