The global business school

We strive to provide the world’s most relevant business education through our global campus network, innovative teaching methods, and cutting-edge curriculum. A relevant business education must be a global one. All our programs, from undergraduate through to executive education, are specifically designed to help students and executives understand what’s shaping international business today and give them the skills and knowledge to operate in this increasingly complex environment.

Global campus network

Hult has seven campus locations in some of the world’s most influential markets.

  • Boston
  • San Francisco
  • London
  • Dubai
  • Shanghai
  • New York
  • Ashridge Estate – U.K.

This global campus network gives us true global reach – it allows students and executives to experience different parts of the world during the course of their studies, attracts people from across the globe to enroll in our programs, and enables us to tap into industry and faculty expertise wherever it may exist.

Global expertise

Our programs are based on the issues facing today’s international companies.

Trusted by the world’s leading companies

Many of the world’s most respected companies, public sector organizations, and NGOs turn to Hult’s Ashridge Executive Education team every year for help developing their management talent. A full range of executive development programs is available, from innovative open programs addressing common managerial problems, through to custom executive education programs designed specifically with a particular organization and situation in mind. Our change management consulting services address specific challenges facing organizations, and coaching practice for individuals is also available.

This deep involvement with clients both informs our research and influences the design of our degree programs, helping us deliver the most relevant and current business education available.

Dedicated to experiential learning

Experiential learning – bringing fundamental business concepts to life – is a cornerstone of all our programs. It is crucial in education because we believe people learn better by doing.

Techniques employed include live simulations with actors, practicing group decision-making by competing against other teams of students, and developing teamwork and leadership skills through challenging outdoor activities, such as open-water sailing.

Internationally renowned faculty

Hult professors pride themselves first and foremost on their ability to engage students. They have a passion for their subject, and for bringing learning to life. Many have achieved significant success in the real world, and everything they teach is backed by examples from their collective successes as corporate executives, business owners, inventors, and entrepreneurs.

Our professors come from 45 different countries, and have taught on multiple continents – the subjects they teach are greatly enhanced by their internationalism.

World-class research focused on business practice

Our research is focused on the issues that are uppermost in leaders’ minds – the trends that are shaping the future business environment and how companies need to react. These include long-term research interests in leadership, sustainability, emerging markets, and technological disruption.

Ground-breaking thinking arising from our research is translated into practice that underpins our programs – helping organizations and individuals perform at the highest level.

The institution was established in 1964 by Arthur D. Little Inc. as the Management Education Institute, a subsidiary for training of business executives from developing countries, modeled on the MIT Sloan School of Management. In 1976, the Arthur D. Little school was accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

In 1996, the school, then known as the Arthur D. Little School of Management, formed a partnership with Boston College's Carroll School of Management, giving it access to the college's facilities. The following year the Arthur D. Little School of Management became an independent non-profit entity, with Arthur D. Little Inc. as its only shareholder.

In 2002, after Arthur D. Little declared bankruptcy, Kaplan, Inc. initiated acquisition of the business school, renaming it the Concord School of Management. In November 2002, Kaplan abandoned its acquisition plans. At the time, the school had 26 students.

In 2003 Bertil Hult stepped in to financially support the failing school. Since then it has grown from its single Boston location to 5 campuses in San Francisco, London, Dubai, Shanghai and two rotation centers in New York and Sao Paulo. The school was renamed Hult International Business School after Bertil Hult, the founder of EF Education First.

In 2005, after the accreditation of Hult's one year MBA program by the Association of MBAs (AMBA), Hult began opening new campuses. The Shanghai campus opened in 2007. The following year Hult became the first American educational institution officially approved in the United Arab Emirates when its Dubai campus opened. In 2009, Hult acquired the former facilities of Huron University USA in London to open its London campus. Hult's San Francisco campus opened in 2010.
