Lincoln's Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management degree, developed with the assistance of employers, recognises the need for graduates to possess applied skills in sport and recreation management, together with skills in critical thinking and demonstrated academic competency. Students will take core courses that provide a broad understanding of sport and recreation theory and practice, event planning and recreation policy. You will also take Lincoln's core University-wide courses to put your learning in the wider context of the land-based sectors, land use, communities and economies. Students can then choose electives to complement the degree. Lincoln has established a track record for meeting the demands of many professional, industrial and employer agencies working in sport and recreation management.

Practical Work
A period of Practical Work is a requirement of this programme through the compulsory course RECN 393 - Practicum: Practical Experience in Sport and Recreation Management (Practicum: Practical Work Experience in Sport and Recreation Management) and full details will be available at the start of semester in the course outline.
A summary of the RECN393 requirements is provided:
• 120 hours in total, within the course structure of REN393;
• Working in relevant industry settings associated with sport and recreation management;
• Practical work placements to be signed off by the examiner of RECN393.
Entry Requirements: Undergraduate
To enrol at Lincoln University you must be at least 16 years of age by 1st of January of the year in which you commence your study.
To gain entrance to a bachelor's degree or undergraduate diploma at Lincoln you must be eligible through one of the following categories.
- University Entrance through NCEA;
- International qualifications;
- Special admission.
International students should have a completed qualification which is recognised as being equivalent to the New Zealand common entrance standard.
English Language Requirement
Tuition for every course offered by Lincoln University is conducted in the English Language. Within some courses, part of the tuition may be taught in Te Reo Māori. Lincoln University requires all applicants to have an English language competency sufficient for academic purposes. Therefore all students whose first language is other than English need to satisfy Lincoln University’s English language requirements.
Approved English language tests with the required levels for Undergraduate degrees are shown below:
- Lincoln University: English for Academic Purposes: 65%;
- IELTS (Academic): 6.0 no individual band less than 5.5;
- TOEFL: 79 iBT, 550 paper, 213 Computer, Essay Rating (TWE) 4.5.

Lincoln University Gap Year Scholarship
Scholarships are available to students who demonstrate academic merit and who have had a break of at least six months after completing secondary school. Value: Up to $4,500 towards tuition fees. Tenure: One year.
Lincoln University Inclusive Education Undergraduate Award
One scholarship is available annually to a student who has a disability, injury or illness. Value: $3,000. Tenure: One year.
Lincoln University Global Challenges Scholarship
Successful applicants will participate in the Global Challenge programme which will be provided by Lincoln University. This will comprise a series of planned activities throughout the academic year as well as individual and group projects. For School Leavers or students who have had a gap year and for new to Lincoln students only.
Study Abroad Programme
For international students our Study Abroad programme allows you to come to Lincoln for a semester or a year, and transfer the credit back to your degree at home. Duration
You can study abroad with us for either one semester or a full academic year. Most courses are taught over one semester.
