Description

The curriculum in the department is multidisciplinary in scope and purpose and provides students with a strong background in both humanistic and social science perspectives on children and their representations. This approach will prepare students for careers in many areas including academics, public policy, social services, youth programming, and education.

Requirements

Our primary emphasis is placed on the student’s academic promise as demonstrated by:

• completion of required entrance subjects
• academic performance in high school or its equivalent:
• strength of academic program (number/type of academic, honors, or advanced placement courses completed)
• grades and grade trends
• weighted grade-point average(s)
• cumulative rank, when available
• SAT and/or ACT scores
• English Proficiency Examination results, when required

Childhood Studies Dual Degree (B.A./M.A.) Program: Students with a high school GPA of 3.5 and a combined verbal and math SAT score of 1200. Those entering the program must be fulltime and maintain a 3.0 GPA. Interested students may also meet with the Graduate Director to determine eligibility.
