It addresses how technology can be successfully integrated within the larger context of successful marketing plans.

  • Social Media Strategy

The module provides students with an introduction to social media marketing and corporate communication strategies using social media. It outlines theories and drivers of social media in todays marketing landscape. It also examines how social media facilitates and changes the behaviours of consumers in the marketplace. In addition, it explores how businesses are increasingly incorporating social media into their business strategies including market research and customer service. The module will discuss social media from a strategic perspective as well as focus on specific technologies and tactics.

  • Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Small Business Management

Entrepreneurship is seen as involving two vital ingredients: innovation and creativitybut with that little extra push to achieve. This module is designed to foster entrepreneurial talent and to encourage and develop entrepreneurial/ small business management skills through the review and application of theory and practice in the field. The diversity of entrepreneurship in todays dynamic commercial and social environments will be highlighted, incorporating the application of the latest e-marketing strategies. Students will be challenged to think and act entrepreneurially with the objective of being in a position to start their own business or being able to bring an entrepreneurial approach to existing organisations. It also aims to make them aware of opportunities in the market place and generate a can do mentality - one that empowers students and shows them that they can shape their own destinies.

  • Marketing Intelligence

This module introduces students to the information and modelling methods increasingly used by marketers as a basis for decision making. Contemporary marketing information is often large volume, heterogeneous and complex and an increasing proportion of it is in digital form. This module exposes students to the characteristics of the emerging information landscape (including sources, provenance , quality and availability), key marketing applications in both online and offline contexts, and a range of tools and techniques for making sense of this information in support of strategic, tactical and operational decision making. The module also examines the use of 'what if?' analyses (including computer simulations, scenario planning and role-playing games) which provide alternative approaches to planning for the future.

General funding for your postgraduate study

Professional and Career Development Loans

These are bank loans that can be used to help pay for work related learning. You can borrow between £300 and £10,000 to help support the cost of up to two years of learning (or three years if it includes one year's relevant unpaid practical work). The Young People's Learning Agency will pay the interest on the loan while you are learning and for one month afterwards. The loan can be used to pay course fees or other costs such as travel and living expenses. You can also use the loan to supplement other forms of support such as grants or bursaries. Because the Professional and Career Development Loan is a commercial loan product, they should only be considered as an option once all other student funding options have been investigated.

Bursaries

Some organisations will offer study bursaries for an array of different courses. Postgrad Solution Ltd is offering postgraduate students the opportunity to receive a bursary of £500 each to help with fees. The deadline for application is 18 August 2011 and awards are judged by a panel based on a written application. Applicants must have been accepted onto a postgraduate course before applying

Employer sponsorship

If you are working, your employer may sponsor you if your studies or research will benefit your professional role.

Charitable sources

Charities sometimes make awards, some of which are restricted to applicants who qualify under the particular terms of the charity. They are made available for specific purposes, and do not cover three years of fees and living expenses. The major charities that may be able to assist include: The Wellcome Foundation, The Nuffield Foundation and The Leverhulme Trust.

Overseas funding

The British Government and other organisations offer a number of scholarships and grants on a competitive basis for overseas students to study and conduct research here. For general information on funding for students from overseas, contact your nearest British Council office.
