This course is intended for highly motivated and creative individuals who want to challenge the boundaries of their professional skills through a range of different disciplines. Students practices are supported by workshops in practical performance making, research methods, critical writing, theory seminars as well as individual and group tuition.

You will examine a range of visual, performance and design concepts such as performative installation, digital technology and the performance body, semiotics and visual culture, as well as the inter-relationship of space and spectator. You will continue the debate of post-dramatic theatre practice and design by challenging conventional notions of theatre making and to examine how theatre design and performance communicates to a contemporary audience.

The course is structured through three main elements, which are supported by practical skill based workshops, peer reviews, web based practices, performance debates, seminars, individual and group tuition.

The first term involves the student group making a piece of collective performance. The group will work under the guidance of a project leader in order to work as a collective in order to investigate an area of contemporary performance. Previous performance projects included; site specifity, promenade and Live Internet streaming.

The second term is a series of personal research performances and projects, involving practical and professional enquiry. These will be a facilitated both in small grouping and through independent study. The work is assessed and supported through both peer, independent and tutorial review.
In the Final MA Stage, you will have worked towards situating a independent project and will develop your concept towards exhibition. The project is seen as a point of departure that will help to situate you as both a collaborator and independent artist within the your chosen area of performance.
