This qualification reflects the occupation functions of workers from the accounting business, for example BAS Agents and contract bookkeepers; and of the employees performing accounting tasks for businesses in a range of businesses. It has preparing and lodging industry and instalment activity statements, and providing advice or addressing the Commissioner with respect to a taxpayer with regard to actions statements. Individuals in these functions apply theoretical and specialist knowledge and expertise to work autonomously, and exercise decision in completing regular and non-routine activities.Licensing/Regulatory InformationWork functions in the occupational areas where this qualification could be used are susceptible to regulatory conditions. Consult with this FNS Financial Services Training Package Companion Volume Implementation Guide or the appropriate regulator for specific assistance with requirements.Persons offering a business activity statement (BAS) service for a commission or other reward has to be registered by the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) and this qualification is now cited as fulfilling with the TPB instruction requirements for registration. Other states apply, for example a predetermined amount of experience. Persons seeking BAS agent registration should check current registration conditions with the TPB, as registration requirements are reviewed regularly.
