Accounting and Bookkeeping

This qualification reflects the occupation roles of workers at the accounting business, for example BAS Agents and contract bookkeepers; rather than those employees performing bookkeeping tasks for organisations in a range of industries. It has lodging and preparing industry and instalment activity statements, and providing advice or dealing with the Commissioner for a citizen with regard to activity statements. Individuals in those roles employ theoretical and expert understanding and skills to work properly, and physical exercise judgement in completing regular and non-routine activities.Licensing/Regulatory InformationWork works in the occupational areas where this qualification could be used are susceptible to specific regulatory conditions. Refer to the FNS Financial Services Training Package Companion Volume Implementation Guide or the relevant ruler for particular guidance on requirements.Persons giving a business activity statement (BAS) service for a commission or other reward has to be registered by the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) and also this qualification is now cited as meeting the TPB education requirements for registration. Other conditions apply, for example a designated amount of experience. Persons seeking BAS broker registration should check current registration conditions with the TPB, as registration requirements have been reviewed regularly.
