Medical radiations is a fast advancing medical discipline involving the effective use of ionising and non-ionising radiation to the diagnosis and treatment of disease and injury. RMIT features a multi disciplinary approach to medical radiations, with the option to examine all healthcare radiations disciplines at degree level. Medical imaging - During medical images such as x rays, MRI, and ultrasound, radiographers assist in the diagnosis and care of all patients. This system unites knowledge of biomedical and physical sciences with technical expertise and patient attention. Nuclear medicine - Nuclear medicine uses very tiny amounts of radioactive substances to diagnose and treat disease. Common nuclear medicine applications include cardiac stress tests to analyse heart function, bone scans to orthopaedic injuries, and lung scans for blood clots. Radiation therapy - Radiation therapy is certainly one of the principal treatment plans for patients diagnosed with cancer, which contributes to the high cancer cure rates in Australia. Radiation therapists unite knowledge of the physical and biomedical sciences as a way to design and verify suitable treatment plans, as well as conduct research.

To Rule in Victoria, you must fulfil the criteria for registration by the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia (MRPBA). All students will be enrolled as students together with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) during the application. Upon successful completion of the application, you will be qualified to submit an application for provisional registration through the MRPBA. You will also be qualified to submit an application for the Supervised Exercise application that is over seen by the MRPBA. Conclusion of the Supervised Practice Plan is necessary before you are able to submit an application for full accreditation through the MRPBA.
