Offered jointly at the University of Adelaide and the Art Gallery of South Australiathis application enables students to review the collections of their gallery together with teaching provided by curatorial and academic team in both institutions, as well as by national experts. On-campus classes are held after hourswith lectures and tutorials held in the University, and also'hands on' workshops at the gallery. By working the eye as well as your brain, students have the ability to thoroughly explore insitu or the rich collections and exhibitions of the Art Gallery of South Australia. Students are encouraged to seek responses to those questions reflected in specific works of art concerning their: creations and fabrication; critical reception; material essay; mixed fortunes in the heritage of taste; subject-matter; place from the lifetime work of this artist who left themand so on. Students become familiar with the issues involved in curating exhibits and the principal questions associated with connoisseurship. Students will develop the research skills required to investigate key issues in art history, including skills in visual analysis.
Bachelor level or equivalent. Selection is based on academic merit. Candidates without a bachelor degree but with professional experience in a suitable field may also be viewed.
