Art Therapy

This specialised program provides trained at the tradition of art therapy, which unites art and psychotherapy within a clinical setting or curative atmosphere. Art therapy can be used for healing and treatment, and for the prevention of psychological, emotional, emotional or physical issues, problems or disorders.

The Master of Art Therapy is approved by the Australian, New Zealand and Asian Creative Arts Therapies Association (ANZACATA). Supporters of the Master of Art Therapy may apply for professional registration with ANZACATA. Membership may be subject to additional or continuing requirements beyond finishing the amount. Please contact the relevant professional body for details.

• Undergraduate degree in fine arts, graphic design, art education, psychology, counselling, social work, occupational therapy, psychology or nursing
• At least one year of art therapy, counselling or community work experience (paid or voluntary)
• NB: prep minimal prerequisites will not guarantee an offer of a place
• Entrance in to all La Trobe lessons relies on competitive selection and there can be limited positions available.
