The master's programme in Artificial Intelligence is a two-year programme taught entirely in English. The programme covers a wide range of subjects emphasizing the following eight research topics: *identifying patterns in large datasets *multi-agent systems of collaborating autonomous intelligent systems *situated agents *formal techniques for reasoning in agents *techniques for representing knowledge *intelligent techniques for playing and solving board games and controlling virtual characters in video games *extracting interesting and non-trivial information and knowledge from unstructured text *machine learning techniques The impact of the field of Artificial Intelligence is pertinent due to the key role it plays for technological applications that have become indispensable in society including data mining, automated trading software in real markets, interactive computer games, intelligent network routing on the internet, robotic space exploration, sensor networks for medical applications and many more. In this programme you are trained to become and expert and capable of dealing with today's and future challenges in the field of Artificial Intelligence.

Admission requirements

*proof of English proficiency in the form of an IELTS test (minimum score 6.5) or TOEFL (computer-based minimum score 232; internet-based minimum score 90; paper-based minimum score 575) or a Cambridge certificate: CAE (Certificate in Advanced English) grade C. Unless the student is a native English speaker or the student's secondary education was in an EU/EEA country or the student's secondary education in a non-EU/EEA country was taught in English.

  2. vooropleiding (ISPAC: vereiste vooropleiding) *a Bachelor of Science degree in Knowledge Engineering *a Bachelor of Science degree or an equivalent diploma in a field related to Knowledge Engineering. The Board of Admission will decide if the degree is appropriate *a professional Bachelor of Science degree in Knowledge Engineering or a related field (including Mathematics, Computer Science or Artificial Intelligence) from a Dutch HBO study or equivalent. Such applicants must also have completed a preparatory programme at the department of Data Science and Knowledge Engineering
  3. schriftelijk verzoek A motivation essay of 2 pages
  4. wiskundetoets cijfer The Board of Admission can additionally request as proof of analytical writing and quantitative reasoning abilities, a satisfactory Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score. A satisfactory GRE score implies a score of 4 or higher on the analytical writing section and 80% in the quantitative reasoning section (a lower score will be decided on by the Board of Admission).
