Description
This innovative programme has been designed to build on the knowledge and skills that you will have gained during your HND. It aims to broaden your expertise to include theoretical knowledge and practical experience important to being an audio professional in the 21st century. This includes games sound design, audio effects and processing, interaction with audio systems and an introduction to related disciplines including video production and web design. The programme has been designed to allow you to developthe skills and knowledge that you will have gained as part of your HND andoffers you an opportunity to develop further skills. During your HND theemphasis will have been on the practical elements of sound and musicproduction. The course is designed specifically to build on and extend thepractical experience you will have gained in your HND. As such the emphasismoves away from sound production, and toward giving you the skills you need todesign, develop and evaluate audio technology processes and techniques. Thisincludes focussing on sound design for games, audio processing, synthesis andeffects development, audio analysis and assessment, and methods of interactionwith audio software and hardware. You will be introduced to related multimediatopics including web design and video production, and will take part insubstantial audio project work.

Course Content
Years 1 and 2: HND Sound Production, Music Technology or equivalent at a recognised UK or overseas institution.
Year 3: Audio Analysis and Assessment, New Venture Creation, Audio Processing and Effects, Audio and Interactivity, Games Sound Design, Project.
Year 4: Honours Project/Honours Research and Projects Methods, Audio Software and Equipment Interface Design, Advanced Audio Processing, Web Development, Video Production.
Exchange: European exchange opportunities exist with partner institutions in countries such as Germany, Denmark and Finland.
Assessment: Assessment of this programme is based on a combination of course work and written examinations.
