Business Economics and Law

The major in Business Economics and Law is unique to the Alberta School of Business. It builds on the DepartmentпПХs history of research and teaching excellence in the business aspects of these fields. The major examines the economic and legal aspects of business and how they combine to create the environment in which firms operate. Students in the major can take a broad approach or can concentrate on the firm itself or on the environment of the firm.Studying with one of the largest Bachelor of Commerce programs in the country gives you some distinct advantages. You can focus your studies in a traditional field such as Accounting, Marketing, Finance, and Human Resources. Or you can branch out into some of the unique and non-traditional majors such as Business Economics & Law, East Asian Studies, Entrepreneurship & Family Enterprise, Retailing & Services, and Management Information Systems. In the classroom, you can expect to find professors who challenge you to put ideas to work. Team and project work is a strong component of all of our classes, with our professors often playing a role as coach, mentor, moderator and information resource.
