Flexibility
Our Business Studies course is unique in giving you the flexibility to keep your specialisation options open until your second year of study. This offers you the best of both worlds: broad-based first and second years and a specialised final year.

Whichever pathway of Business Studies you choose, at the end of your degree you will have gained qualities enabling you to manage a range of business activities in a global context. Employability and career prospects are at the heart of our Business courses.
Placement opportunities
As part of your Business Studies degree, you will spend 40 weeks working within industry, putting the theory from your first two years on the course into practice.
Our extensive network of contacts means that you will have the opportunity to gain this experience working at some of the worlds most innovative and influential businesses, including Xerox, Barclays, British Airways, Hewlett-Packard, Vauxhall Motors, IBM, Wella and Nokia to name a few. Our students perform extremely well during their paid placements; employers are always impressed with their abilities and many of our students return to their placement company upon graduation.
Study Abroad Programme
This is a unique opportunity for overseas students to study for one semester or a full academic year on our BA (Hons) Business Studies course. This will enable you to:
- Study on the 2nd year of the BA (Hons) Business Studies degree course
- Develop your interpersonal and employability skills
- Study with students from all over the world
- Opportunities to develop your English language skills if English is not your first language
- Opportunities to develop your language skills in Spanish, French and German
- Gain credits to contribute towards your degree at your home university

Course content:
Year 1
You will 'hit the ground running' from year one onwards, when you will begin to develop the versatility and personal qualities needed to manage a range of business activities in a global context, as well as an awareness of the wider impact of business decisions on organisational stakeholders and society. In addition, through tasks including simulated business projects, you will develop highly sought after skills including communication, presentation, team work and time management.

Year 3
You will complete a 40-week placement which can be carried out anywhere in the world. The placement year offers a chance to gain experience and make contacts for the future.

Tariff points
The entry requirements for this course are 320 to 340 tariff points, including 200 to 220 from 2 A-levels (e.g. A,B), or equivalent qualifications. BTEC Extended Diploma: DDM.
GCSEs
This course requires a minimum of 5 GCSEs, or equivalent, at grades A* to C, including Maths and English or equivalent.
