This course provides an opportunity for graduates of non-computing disciplines to develop specialist skills suitable for a career in Computing. It is ideal for those who wish to apply their knowledge and expertise in a technical environment and need to develop core computing skills in order to achieve this.

The course aims to foster knowledge and in-depth understanding of the capabilities of modern software development methods and tools. Students on the course will develop competence in the analysis and specification of the information storage and processing needs of industrial and commercial applications, as well as the skills to plan and monitor the conduct of the development process, with a view to ensuring delivery of a quality assured product.

The course is offered full-time and part-time. The part-time mode is ideal if you would like to further your career but are unable to commit to full-time study.

This course is ideal for students who possess a first degree in any non-computing discipline. Other qualifications and experience will be considered, with entry being subject to the University's judgement that the person has reasonable expectation of being able to fulfil the requirements of the award.All international students for whom English is not their first language must provide evidence of linguistic ability, by gaining either IELTS 6.5 or its equivalent in TOEFL prior to receiving an unconditional offer of a place on the course. English Language Requirements IELTS band: 6.5 TOEFL iBT® test: 90 IMPORTANT NOTE: Since April 2014 the ETS tests (including TOEFL and TOEIC) are no longer accepted for Tier 4 visa applications to the United Kingdom. The university might still accept these tests to admit you to the university, but if you require a Tier 4 visa to enter the UK and begin your degree programme, these tests will not be sufficient to obtain your Visa. Postgraduate Tuition Fee Loan
Applicants (Scottish domiciled and EU) to this course may be eligible for a Postgraduate Tuition Fee Loan (PTFL). Full-time students can apply for a PTFL up to £3400. Part-time students can apply for up to £1700. The tuition fee loan is only available to part-time students who are undertaking at least 50% of a full-time course, and therefore, complete their qualification in 2 years.
