Counsellors and psychotherapists improve people's lives by enabling them to explore their own emotional and psychological problems in a safe and private environment. The Graduate Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy provides students with an introduction into the theory and skills that underpin a rewarding career in counseling. Offering recognition for prior education, the certificate is appropriate to folks who've been working in a counseling job without an undergraduate qualification and would like to extend their expertise and skills with a tertiary qualification. Comprising four classes in counseling knowledge, the certificate offers a choice of full time or part time study options. Students participate in small group assignments to practise and improve vital skills through case-based learning. Face to face classes and instruction techniques enable students to create close working relationships with their own cohort and professors. Graduates have the option to continue their research with the Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and also the Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy. With further studies or additional qualifications, students receiving training to be counseling professionals and also work in an extensive array of fields including: careers counseling, education, child and family services, child protection services, youth employment, family counseling, facilitating groups, and rehabilitation counseling.
