The Graduate degree in Creative Writing is part of an articulated program designed to meet a selection of needs for people that want to start a career on paper and also for experienced writers wanting to help develop their theoretical understanding and skills. Students gain: both specific and general skills in writing across a selection of genres, studying one genre at depth or researching the potential of a range of genres and media; yet an capacity to develop and critically revise their particular work; yet an understanding of the relationships of writing publication and practice over a range of contemporary cultural forms; a crucial understanding of aesthetic and cultural disagreements; and an ability to think creatively and critically about, and contribute to, progress in cultural industries.

  • UTS recognised bachelor degree, or equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted additional evidence of general and professional credentials which shows possibility to pursue graduate studies. Applicants that haven't completed a bachelor's, master's, graduate degree or graduate certificate in any field of study (or overseas equivalent) must provide: a personal statement (approximately 500 words) explaining why they would like to study the class
  • A CV that ought to include details of paid and voluntary work or other adventures that would be highly relevant to the course. If candidates don't distribute these records, their application may not be considered. The English competency requirement of global students or neighborhood applicants with international credentials is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0
  • Or TOEFL: newspaper based: 550-583 complete with TWE of 4.5, internet based: 79-93 complete with a writing score of 21
  • Or AE5: Walk
  • Or PTE: 58-64
  • Or CAE: 176-184.
