The Master of Cyber Security (Computer Science) on the City campus has provisional accreditation from the Australian Computer Society (ACS). Membership may require an application to the expert human body and may have additional or ongoing requirements beyond the completion of the degree. Please contact the relevant professional body for details.

The minimum entrance requirement is successful completion of an Australian Bachelor degree (or its equivalent). Before learning developed through relevant work experience or professional certification, where it is regarded as at least equivalent to that obtained through a Bachelor degree, may be considered. In producing an offer to an applicant, the University will give consideration to a range of factors to determine whether an applicant has demonstrated the capability to work at a Masters degree, including academic record, English competence, and/or employment experience. NB: Fulfilling minimum entrance requirements does not guarantee that an offer of a place. Entry into most of La Trobe courses relies on competitive selection and there can be limited places available.

The Bachelor of Cybersecurity (Computer Science) program at La Trobe University offers a variety of financing options to support students throughout their studies. Domestic students may be eligible for government-assisted financial aid programs such as Austudy and Youth Allowance, which provide income support for full-time students who meet specific eligibility criteria. Additionally, undergraduate students can access government loan schemes such as the Higher Education Loan Program (HELP), which includes the HECS-HELP scheme. Under HECS-HELP, students can defer their tuition fees and repay them through the tax system once they reach a certain income threshold after graduation. The availability of these schemes reduces the immediate financial burden and allows students to focus on their studies.

For international students, fees must typically be paid upfront or via a payment plan negotiated with the university. La Trobe University offers various payment options, including installments, to make financing more manageable for international students pursuing the Cybersecurity (Computer Science) degree. It is recommended that international students consider purchasing Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), which is a requirement for student visa holders and may be included in some comprehensive fee packages.

Beyond government support, students might explore scholarship opportunities provided by La Trobe University. These scholarships recognize academic excellence, financial need, or specific areas of interest related to cybersecurity and computer science. Recipients of scholarships benefit from reduced tuition fees or additional financial assistance, easing the costs associated with higher education.

Part-time work opportunities are also available for students, allowing them to gain practical experience and supplement their income while studying. La Trobe University’s location provides students access to local job markets and internships in cybersecurity and tech industries, which can be valuable for career development and financial support.

Furthermore, funding options may include private loans or financial assistance from employers for employees pursuing further studies. Employer-sponsored study programs are particularly relevant for those already working in technology sectors, as they may provide funding or leave entitlements to support continuing education.

Overall, the Financing studies component of the Bachelor of Cybersecurity (Computer Science) at La Trobe University includes government student support schemes, university scholarships and grants, flexible payment options, part-time work opportunities, and potential employer sponsorships. These multiple avenues are designed to make higher education accessible and affordable, enabling students to fully engage with their academic pursuits and develop the necessary skills to succeed in the cybersecurity industry.
