The Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance) builds on our international reputation for performance-focused dance training. It attracts highly motivated, disciplined and creative dancers who are interested in shaping the future of Australian dance.

VCA Dance offers a vibrant and stimulating atmosphere in which dancers are trained for the technical demands and creative challenges of careers in dance. The course develops technically strong, kinaesthically aware dance artists through specialist training in contemporary dance, classical ballet, dance science and somatic practices, choreography and performance. New works by professional Australian and international choreographers provide invaluable performance experience and interaction with the dance profession.

Graduates of the program work as dancers and choreographers in Australian and international contexts.

Applicants for the Bachelor of Fine Arts in any discipline must meet the following criteria:

Successful completion of the VCE (or equivalent qualification);

AND

A study score of at least 25 in Units 3 and 4 English/English Language/Literature;

A study score of at least 30 in Units 3 and 4 EAL.

There is no minimum ATAR requirement.

Submit a Supplementary Application Form. Please note that your application will be marked as incomplete if a Supplementary Application Form is not received, allow yourself adequate time to complete all required fields.
Undergo a physical examination by a qualified physiotherapist to establish your suitability to undertake dance training and submit a completed Physiotherapy Examination Form to vcamcm-admissions@unimelb.edu.au prior to closing date.
Attend an audition
TOEFL Paper based test - a score of 577 or more, Internet based test - a score of 79
IELTS an overall band score of 6.5 or more in the Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS), with no bands less than 6.0.
