Early childhood is a highly specialised field which centers around the instruction of children from birth to age eight having a special focus on kindergarten, training and years 1 to 3. Students can tackle this program either on-campus or via outside (online) study. Some subjects are simply available in this program. The qualified experience component is an essential part of the application and examines the context, processes and purposes of teaching in early childhood settings.

Queensland College of Teachers

  • Year 12 or equivalent
  • English (Units 3/4,C)
  • General maths or mathematical methods or specialist maths (Units 3/4,C), and a general science subject (Units 3/4,C). All pupils need to fulfill minimal literacy standards upon entry and upon the completion of the application as required by the Queensland College of Teachers
  • Plus Suitability to Work with Children Card (Blue Card) from the Queensland Family and Child Commission. Applicants with no C-grade in Science may shoot ED0195:03 Bridging Science for Teachers at JCU prior to initiating research.
