The M.Eng. is a course-based degree and may be completed on a part-time, full-time or extended full-time basis. Applicants to the M.Eng. must hold the equivalent of a four-year Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field.Applicants who obtained their undergraduate degrees in universities outside of Canada and the USA must also write the GRE General Test and the TOEFL (including a test of written English). Alternative English proficiency tests are also acceptable, including IELTS, according to the School of Graduate Studies English Proficiency Requirement.Applicants must provide official (hard copy) transcripts for all post-secondary programs completed, attempted, or in progress. Transcripts must list the years of study, courses taken and grades received.Applicants who attend(ed) non-English speaking universities must have the universities provide official transcripts and proof of degree conferral in the original language, as well as in English. U of T is committed to the financial support of graduate students in doctoral-stream programs. For eligible students, funding packages consist of an amount equal to the cost of academic tuition fees plus a $15,000 stipend.

Students in professional master's and doctoral programs typically self-fund their educational expenses through a variety of programs including student loans, student line of credit, and employment income. Students may also be eligible for a limited number of graduate awards made available through their graduate units and various external agencies.
