The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree is a four-year programme leading to registration as a professional engineer. It consists of 480 points, usually divided into four, 120-point parts (each equivalent to one year's study).
In Part I (your first year), the BE(Hons) programme follows a set structure. You get an introduction to each engineering discipline, before applying for a specialisation at the end of Part I. Throughout Parts II-IV, you'll study your specialisation and core engineering courses at levels of study that become more advanced with each year.
Part I is a common year covered in your first year of study. You gain exposure to each of the nine different engineering specialisations and study a broad base of engineering and professional fundamentals. At the end of Part I, you will be invited to select the discipline in which you wish to specialise for the remainder of your degree.

In addition, you will study specialist subjects relevant to your chosen field. You will also have opportunities to choose elective courses, allowing you to further specialise in topics that interest you most.
- General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level. A minimum of three A-Level subjects completed, with at least 'C' grade or higher attained. General Studies or similar general papers cannot be included.
- Complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma (minimum total score of 24).
- IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.0 and all bands 5.5 or better
- Internet-based TOEFL (iBT): Overall score of 80 plus a written score of 21
- Paper-based TOEFL: Overall score of 550 plus Essay (TWE) of 4.5
- Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) and Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE): Overall score of 169 and all bands 162 or better
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: Overall score of 50 and no PTE communicative skills score below 42. You must authorise the University to view and verify your PTE scores.
- Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 80
